Change is happening—even if we can’t see it

Change is never as prolific as we elevate it to be. Transformation, the act of progressing from one state to another, is a perpetual process—unending and perdurable. Who we are remains subjective from day to day, moment to moment, breath to breath. Of course we are different than we were before—we exist. Nothing in life remains constant and as such, life is a plight of maintaining some tolerable balance between Before and After.
The trials and triumphs of our lives—much like our yoga practice—teach us the merits of steady equilibrium. Can we successfully endure the rush of the universe pulsing through us during our highs and our lows? It is our ability to evolve in spite of ambivalence that should be hoisted up for the world to see, however.
Perhaps we still live in the same town or perhaps we haven’t proceeded to handstand from headstand, but in no way does that mean that we have failed to bloom forth from our metamorphosis. Resolving to evolve versus focusing on the simple act of changing allows us to move forward instead of simply moving for the sake of moving, which in and of itself oft leaves us in the same place, in the same space, just as we are.
Appearances, by all means, are faulty and true yielding of something new and fresh occurs on the inside. Stress less about forcing a change for the sole purpose of proclaiming, “I have changed!” and attend to the tweaks that are called for in order to move beyond the box created through “one step forward” and “one step back”.
